Laws of life/Laws of nature

Laws of life/Laws of nature
Prov 4:18-22

But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, that shines brighter and brighter until the full day.

19 The way of the wicked is like darkness; they do not know over what they stumble.

20 My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings.

21 Do not let them depart from your sight; keep them in the midst of your heart.

22 For they are life to those who find them, and health to all their whole body.

(NAS)

What is life? Is it the absence of pain, sorrow, disease, restrictions, or conflict? Is it more than money, fame, friends, and excitement?

In Rev 21:4 it says: “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

(NKJ)

So there is something to life about the absence of negatives and the presence of positives.

Ps 30:5

For His anger is but for a moment, his favour is for life; weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

(NKJ)
Ps 17:15

As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.

(NKJ)
Acts 2:28

You have made known to me the ways of life; you will make me full of joy in Your presence.’

(NKJ)

But what about the life you now live on earth in the midst of sorrow pain, disease, and such?

John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

THIS IS GOD’S DESIGN

-Our first experience is the laws of nature; Laws of cause and effect persuade us each and every day. For example: if I drink a vial of deadly poison I will die. The biological law will rule my life. The poison and the body are not compatible and as such I will die. Ignorance is no protection from this law. No matter how much you believe this will not hurt, no matter what faith you have in the power of your body – you will die. God will not normally overrule this cause and effect.

THERE ARE DISEASES THAT INVADE THE BODY! THERE ARE DISEASES WE CATCH BY CIRCUMSTANCE THAT MAY INDEED GIVE US A COMMON COLD OR DEADLY VIRUS. HOWEVER, MOST COMMON DISEASES WE SUFFER ARE SELF-IMPOSED OR FERTILIZED THROUGH EMOTIONAL STRESS OR SINFUL PRACTICES.

“You are always dragging me down,” said I to my body. “Dragging you down!” replied my body. “Well I like that! Who taught me to like tobacco and alcohol? You, of course, with your idiotic adolescent idea of being “grown up.” My palate loathed both at first: but you would have it your way. Who put an end to all those angry and revengeful thoughts last night? Me, of course, by insisting on going to sleep. Who does his best to keep you from talking too much and eating too much by giving you dry throats and headaches and indigestion? Eh?” “And what about sex?” said I. “Yes, what about it? Retorted the body. “If you and your wretched imagination would leave me alone I’d give you no trouble. That’s soul all over; you give me orders and then blame me for carrying them out.” [1]

Prolonged emotional stress may produce psychosomatic ailments that in turn will produce biochemical imbalance; and this imbalance will eventually weaken biological integrity to the extent that actual physical ailments will result (all medical disciplines in essence respect this truth).

OUR GENES DO NOT CAUSE US TO BE SICK WITH DISEASES INHERENT IN THE CODE. OUR GENES DO NOT DICTATE OUR FATE! THEY ARE HOWEVER WEAK LINKS THAT WILL ACTIVATE SHOULD WE LIVE UNHEALTHY LIVES, EMOTIONALLY OR PHYSICALLY. THE COST TO UNRIGHTEOUS LIVING IS ALREADY CUSTOMIZED FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL. THERE IS NO ESCAPE! THIS IS NOT SAYING ALL DISEASE IS DUE TO PERSONAL SIN!

Dr. S. I. McMillen, MD; writes in his book None of these Diseases:

” The brain, where all emotional stress is processed, is the control centre over the entire body. From the brain millions of nerve fibres course out to every organ in the body. Chemicals released from these nerve fibres control or influence every chemical reaction in every organ of the body. Because our health is dependent on the proper balance of all theses chemical reactions, it is no wonder that emotional upset in our brains can disrupt chemical reactions in a far-removed organ and cause disease.

“The magnitude of influence of stress on the human body can be demonstrated by a partial listing of diseases that medical scientists have observed to be associated with emotional stress. …it is not assumed that the emotional factor is the sole cause or irritant in many of these cases..” [2]

“It is undoubted that some children – and for that matter adults also – have been faced from time to time with terrible experiences. Even so – no matter how shocking the event – it is the reaction to the happening that can destroy the person affected. If anger, self-pity, and hatred result, then these unbreakable bonds bind the person. If a person responds with love, forgiveness, and even concern for the one who has perpetrated the evil, then liberation results.”

BINGHAM (sin/hell excerpt)

Our second experience is the laws of man.

What about obeying the stoplights for example; the imposed or created laws of man. Well many are established to maintain order and prevent chaos. Mankind does know itself well enough to understand that man, left to his own designs and desires, will produce chaos throughout society. But we often focus more on nature’s laws and God’s than submission to man’s imposed law. When we speak of laws of man we refer to laws of the natural man governing itself as a society. [3]

Prov 14:12-14

12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.

13 Even in laughter the heart may sorrow, and the end of mirth may be grief.

14 The backslider in heart will be filled with his own ways, but a good man will be satisfied from above.

(NKJ)

The sinner intuitively knows there is more happiness available than what he is presently experiencing, but he doesn’t know how to acquire it on his own terms; assuming that independence, self determination, liberty from rules is the ultimate avenue to wholeness. God’s terms are repentance and trust in Christ’s finished work on the cross, and with that is total submission to God’s authority. And yet God commands we give due respect to human authority.

ROMANS 13 : 2 There are two kinds of authority the Christian is to be conscious about, authority of position and authority of holiness. Position reflects on the responsibility of one who has oversight; to those over us we owe submission (Rom 13:1-7). This submission is required by God up to the point where the authority asks one to personally do something that is contrary to the moral law of God; then we may make an appeal, [4] and if that fails to resolve the conflict, we must then rather obey God (Acts 4:19). Look how Jesus responded to world authority in John 19:10, 11.

Jeremiah 29:4-11 .and seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace. (vs 7). Here in this letter God gives instructions to a people, His people Israel, of how to conduct themselves under the Babylonian authorities. These authorities were the powerful war conquering Babylonians. Should God require less of us?

We must repent of rebellion in our lives. This can be rebellion toward mom, dad, wife and husband, boss at work or even in some cases church authority. If we as adults have not learned to submit, then the lesson persists into adulthood through human authorities. Even when we do have a true image of Jesus Himself and the correct example of true functioning authority, our sinfulness will still wish to rebel. Our selfish goal is independence from any authority other than self.

Jesus Christ the Son of God submitted to his earthly parents, to secular and religious authorities, which ultimately sent Him to the cross. But He submitted to everything God the Father purposed for Him without rebellion regardless of the pain and cost to his personal rights. Jesus Christ had the right to be treated with dignity by man, He was the Son of God, he did no sin to warrant hate, and He didn’t deserve crucifixion at the hands of the authorities. But through His obedience He became the name above any other name, in heaven, on earth or under the earth. [5]

Man pursues money, success, fame, power and the like thinking that if he has them he will be in control of his happiness. That why mankind tends to buck human societies laws when confronted with an opportunity for the pursuit of personal pleasure or happiness!

HUMANLY we live in the hope we will win our fight to control our own way with the world and relationships. We strive to bring about what we consider will bring personal happiness through laws of man and society; some will even go further to pursue their own law risking man’s retribution. That is why mankind consistently resists God’s authority. ‘But I won’t get what I want if I just OBEY God and submit to what He wants and not what I want’.

But with this is a cost, for we are but children, even the wisest man on earth is but a child in the matters of real Laws of life. Consequences are designed by God to give to each according to his ways. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. Rom 13:2

GOD GIVES US THE LAWS OF LIFE. These laws are spiritual (moral) and have ultimate rule in the affairs of life.

2 Cor 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.

Prov 12:28

28 In the way of righteousness is life, and in its pathway there is no death.

(NKJ)
Prov 3:5-8

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;

6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and depart from evil.

8 It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.

(NKJ)
Isa 55:7-9

7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.

8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD.

9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.

(NKJ)
1 Cor 3:18-19

18 Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.

19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”;

(NKJ)

BUT THE MOST SIGNIFICANT IMPACT ON THE PERSON’S HEALTH IS:

“SIN will take you FURTHER than you want to go. SIN will KEEP you longer than you want to stay. SIN will COST you more than you want to pay.” author unknown

THE HUMAN BODY WAS NOT DESIGNED TO HANDLE SINFUL STRESS EFFICIENTLY – biochemical results. ITS DESIGN IS WONDERFUL AND ABLE TO COMPENSATE REMARKABLY WELL TO STRESS, BUT IT HAS ITS LIMITS, FOR IT WAS DESIGNED TO LIVE IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN NOT THE LAKE OF HELL.

Lack of forgiveness, hate, revenge, defiance, rebellion to authority, and the like bring with them poor dividends and a progressive diminishing of body and soul. God brings, especially for many carnal Christians, leanness to their souls. This is not to destroy but to motivate His child into His presence and solution.

Sobering verses dealing with the Holiness of God and our tendency to have a casual attitude about practicing sin as a result are as follows:

Ezek 33:13 If I tell the righteous man that he will surely live, but then he trusts in his righteousness and does evil, none of the righteous things he has done will be remembered; he will die for the evil he has done. NIV

John 9:41 Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, ‘We see.’ Therefore your sin remains.

Heb 6:4-6 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.

Heb 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him.”

2 Peter 2:20 For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning.

John 15:22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin.

James 4:17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.

WHY IS THIS?

1 Cor 11:29-32 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.

We learn from many of our illnesses greater insights into the person and promises of God. When one is stressed out to the limit he is not living a life of rest in the Father. So there must be some biblical truth that can apply to the attitude that brought on this illness/stress.

NOT ALL ILLNESS IS DUE TO SIN BUT MUCH IS DUE TO CAUSE AND EFFECT OF THE NATURAL LAWS GOD HAS ORDAINED; IT IS OFTEN THROUGH THESE ILLNESSES WE ARE DRAWN TO GOD TO RECOGNIZE, NOT NECESSARILY MORAL SIN, BUT BIBLICAL SOLUTIONS ADDRESSING THE NATURAL LAWS OF CAUSE AND EFFECT.

Because God is sovereign! Spiritual laws are what bring ULTIMATE fruit to the soul. God tells about soul living and the spiritual reality that gives us essentials to physical and emotional well-being! God’s law is supreme and even overrules death through Christ.

SIN! SINFUL RESPONSES ARE ALSO ADDICTIVE AND CARRY WITH IT CONSEQUENCES AND REPERCUSSIONS NO ONE CAN CONTROL. E.g. smoking, eating, unbridled vengeance, sexual sins, and all the likes as listed in Gal 5: 19-21.

GOD IS SOVEREIGN. EVEN THOUGH WE WONDER IF HE IS IN CONTROL HE IS SOVEREIGN. AND HOW IS HE SOVEREIGN? HE IS SOVEREIGN IN THAT HE CHOOSES THE CONSEQUENCES OF OUR ACTIONS. WE ARE FREE TO SIN BUT WE HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL OVER THE CONSEQUENCES, WHICH IS WHAT IS SOVEREIGNLY IN HIS CONTROL! Ex 15:26

God says to mankind and the Christian:
Gal 6:7-10

7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

(NKJ)

The spiritual laws of God rule over our physical and soul life on earth; they have ultimate reign and authority over every choice we make. Our health is often a barometer of our need to grow in deeper knowledge of God and His blessings in Christ.

“The entering into life and entering the kingdom are practically the same, for the kingdom [of God] is that spiritual realm where God [reigns], where the principles, activities and relationships of heaven prevail, and hence, to enter into these [spiritual principles] is to enter “life.” [6]

Jesus teaches us that ‘eternal life’ is something we can now have and will ever have through Him. Eternal life is a present possession as well as a future realization of its fullness.

-Eternal life is not living forever, the damned live forever too. New birth is in fact ‘sins forgiven’ and the death blow to guilt frees man to know God. Guilt hinders relationships, as illustrated by Adam – he hid from God. Man, freed from sin, is free to obey and free to be blessed.

Rewards of deepening relationship with God moves us away from futile self effort.

LIFE

(3) those relationships with God and with Christ in the spiritual realm, and the activities arising there from which constitute the real and eternal life. This is mediated by Christ . It is in Christ . It is the free gift of God <6:23>. It is also mediated or imparted to us through the Spirit . It comes through obedience to the word ; and through faith <1 Tim 1:16>. It may be apprehended in this life <1 Tim 6:12. 19>. It is brought to light through the gospel <2 Tim 1:10>. It is a reward to those who by patience in well-doing seek it . It gives conquering power over sin and death . It is the end or reward of a sanctified life . It is a present possession and a hope . It will be received in all its fullness hereafter .

WHAT SPIRITUAL LAWS TRICKLE DOWN FROM SPIRIT TO MIND TO EMOTIONS TO BODY AND ULTIMATELY GREATER HEALTH? [7]

My reaction to the uncooperative world will be:

Ø I will forgive. [8]

Ø I will bless my enemies. [9]

Ø I will speak words of grace because my pride will not be easily offended. [10]

Ø I will choose to be a righteous person before God, not so I will be removed from tribulation in this life, but to please Him who has forgiven me, who has given me a new life to live as a child of God, and is preparing a future based on His untiring love.

Deut 30:19-20

19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; 20 that you may love the LORD your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”

NKJV
Prov 8:36

36 But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul; All those who hate me love death.”

Prov 1:29-33

29 Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the LORD, 30 They would have none of my counsel And despised my every rebuke. 31 Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way,And be filled to the full with their own fancies. 32 For the turning away of the simple will slay them,And the complacency of fools will destroy them;

33 But whoever listens to me will dwell safely,And will be secure, without fear of evil.”NKJV
